1. Who we are

TechRig.ie is an online marketplace and listings venue for PC hardware, operated from Monaghan, Ireland. Buyers and sellers deal with each other directly through it.

For the personal data described on this page, TechRig.ie decides how and why it is processed, which makes TechRig.ie the controller of that data.

Privacy questions and data requests go to admin@techrig.ie.

2. Data we collect

This is the information TechRig.ie holds about the people who use the marketplace, and how much of it is visible to others.

  • Account & profile

The email address and password the sign-in service holds for your account, plus the display name, county, town, avatar and My Rig build showcase on your profile. TechRig never sees or stores a plaintext password.

Who can see itYour email address and password stay private; the profile details are public.

  • Listings & photos

Everything you put in an ad: title, category, condition, price, county and town, description, specifications, delivery and swap options, photos, and the number of views the ad has had.

Who can see itLive listings are public; an ad waiting for approval is visible only to you and to TechRig staff.

  • Messages & offers

The messages you exchange and the offers inside them, including the amount and whether it was accepted, so the negotiation between you and the other person stays in one place.

Who can see itPrivate to the two people in the conversation; TechRig staff can see that a conversation exists but not read it.

  • Saved items & activity

The ads you save, the items you compare, the parts in your build checklist and the view count on a listing.

Who can see itSaved ads stay private to your account; your comparisons and build checklist are kept in your own browser, and a view count is a single number rather than a record of who looked.

  • Reviews & reputation

The rating and text of a review you publish about a seller, any report you file about a review or a listing, and your completed-trade count.

Who can see itReviews are public with your display name; a report you file is private to you and to TechRig staff.

  • Private contact details

A phone number, a postal address and an alternative contact email, if you choose to add them to your profile. They are there for your own reference, and TechRig has no phone-verification process.

Who can see itPrivate to you and to TechRig staff, and never shown on your profile or listings.

  • Support correspondence

The message you send through the contact form, with its category and any reply address you add, and the listing or review reports you file.

Who can see itPrivate: your message goes to the TechRig mailbox, and a report is visible to you and to TechRig staff.

  • Technical & security data

Standard technical records, such as request times and error details, that the services running the site keep while it is being used. TechRig keeps no IP-address or device history of its own.

Who can see itOperational, and used only to keep the site available and to diagnose faults rather than to profile anyone.

Payment and sensitive information

TechRig.ie does not provide transaction payment processing and does not ask users to enter payment-card or bank-account details into the marketplace. Payment is arranged directly between the buyer and the seller, and TechRig.ie is not part of that arrangement.

Please do not send payment credentials, passwords or unnecessary sensitive information in a listing, a message or a support request. TechRig.ie cannot control what a user chooses to type, and a message, a listing or a report keeps whatever is written in it.

3. How we use data

TechRig.ie uses personal data only for the purposes below, with the legal basis named beside each one. Where a purpose rests on our legitimate interests, that interest is the everyday running of a listings marketplace.

  • Accounts and listings

Creating and running your account, confirming your email address, and publishing and managing your ads.

    Legal basisContract with you.

  • Buyer and seller communication

Delivering messages and offers between the two people involved, along with the email notification each one sends.

    Legal basisContract with you.

  • Saved ads, reviews and reputation

Keeping your saved ads with your account and showing the reviews and ratings you publish beside the seller they are about.

Legal basisContract with you, and our legitimate interests.

  • Support, safety and enforcement

Answering your enquiries and reports, acting on abuse or spam, and enforcing the Terms of Service and Listing Policy.

    Legal basisOur legitimate interests.

  • Optional analytics

Measuring which pages and features are used, only after you accept analytics.

Legal basisConsent, which you can withdraw at any time.

TechRig.ie does not send marketing or newsletter email, and it does not build advertising profiles or pass personal data to advertisers. If a new purpose such as a newsletter is introduced, this page is updated before it starts.

None of the processing described above currently depends on a legal obligation. If a record-keeping duty ever applies to TechRig.ie, the basis will be stated here.

4. Cookies & storage

TechRig.ie runs no advertising cookies and no marketing pixels. It keeps a small amount of browser storage so the site works, and offers one optional analytics choice that stays off until you accept it.

Your choice

Analytics is the only third-party script that the site can add, it only runs when TechRig has switched it on for the site, and Cookie Settings removes it and disables it again if you change your mind.

You can also read the Cookie Policy for the same information, or change your decision at any time from the Cookie Settings control below.

5. Service providers

TechRig.ie relies on a small number of providers to run the marketplace. Each one is named below with the job it does and the broad kind of data involved.

Service providers used to run TechRig.ie

  • Supabase

    Purpose
    Database, sign-in and file storage.
    Data involved
Account and profile details, ads and their photos, messages and offers, reviews, reports, saved ads, and the data needed to send TechRig's notification emails.
  • Resend

    Purpose
Sending TechRig's email, including support replies.
    Data involved

    Data involved
The requests and errors handled while the site is being served.
  • Google

    Purpose

    Data involved
Aggregate usage statistics about the pages and features visited, only after you accept.

International processing

Some service providers may process data in other countries. Where required, transfers are handled using the safeguards provided by applicable data-protection law.

TechRig.ie does not pass personal data to advertisers or data brokers, and no separate error-monitoring provider is used, so the providers above are the complete set.

6. Retention

TechRig.ie has not fixed one retention period for every kind of record. What the marketplace actually does is set out below, category by category.

  • Account and profile information

Kept while your account stays active. Closing an account is arranged with TechRig directly, because there is no self-service account deletion.

  • Listings, photos and My Rig

Kept while the ad or the showcase is live, and a sold ad stays visible until it is removed. Deleting an ad removes it and the photos stored with it, while a profile picture or My Rig photo stays until you replace or clear it.

  • Messages, offers and reviews

A conversation stays available to both people, even if the ad it started from is removed. A review stays published until it is withdrawn or removed in moderation.

  • Reports, support correspondence and moderation records

Kept for as long as they are needed to answer your enquiry, handle the issue you raised, protect other users and act on a repeated complaint.

  • Provider-held records and backups

Held by the hosting, database and email providers under their own schedules, so TechRig cannot promise that a deletion removes every provider-held copy at the same moment.

Two qualifications. There is no self-service account deletion, so closing an account is arranged with TechRig directly. And deleted data may remain in a provider's backups for as long as that provider's own backup schedule keeps it, so TechRig.ie does not promise that a deletion removes every copy at the same moment.

7. Your rights

You can ask TechRig.ie about your personal data at any time.

  • Access

Ask for a copy of the personal data TechRig holds about you.

  • Correction

Ask for information that is wrong or incomplete to be corrected.

  • Erasure

Ask for personal data to be deleted where there is no remaining reason to keep it.

  • Restriction

Ask for processing to be limited while a question about your data is settled.

These rights depend on the circumstances and may be subject to legal limitations.

To make a request, email admin@techrig.ie. We may need to verify your identity before completing a request, and we respond to valid requests within the period required by applicable data-protection law.

The website does not offer a self-service export or account-deletion tool, so requests are handled by email.

8. Contact & complaints
