A few simple checks can help you get the right hardware and avoid problems.

For sellers — protect yourself too

A few habits can help you avoid scams and make sales safer.

  1. Confirm money in your own accountCheck your bank or payment app, not only a screenshot.
  2. Never trust payment screenshotsScreenshots can be edited or delayed; verify the payment yourself.
  3. Count cash before handoverTake your time and confirm the full amount.
  4. Use tracked postageFor postal sales, use tracked An Post and keep the receipt.
  5. Photograph the working item and parcelKeep clear photos or a short video before dispatch.

Red flags — walk away

If something doesn’t feel right, it probably isn’t. Watch for these common scams.

Don’t do this

  • Someone offers to overpay and asks for international postage.
  • A payment screenshot is presented as proof.
  • Someone pressures you to move to WhatsApp immediately.
  • A supposed courier will collect the item and send a payment link.
  • Someone pressures you to decide immediately.

Do this instead

  • Meet in a public place and test the hardware.
  • Verify the payment yourself in your own app.
  • Keep the conversation on TechRig.
  • Use tracked An Post for postal sales.
  • Report suspicious listings.
